It's all a gameplan of Sudarshan Chakrapani and Kumar Mahajan's wife. They are in love with each other and they want to get rid of Kumar. Sudarshan is actually the boss of company where Kumar works. That's why how they lay a trap of fracturing their son's leg, bribe and suspension and then sudden reinitiation and transfer. All on the orders of Sudarshan. Kumar's friend plays a pawn (for money and salary hike) and he plants astrologer and takes Kumar to him. That's why the astrologer is shown missing and his friend gets SMS on his phone (which is fake). Sudarshan wants to eliminate Kumar so that he can marry Kumar's wife (who doesn't want to live an ordinary life in the Mumbai chawl). Kumar falls for this trap and is murdered brutally in the forest guest house. Remember, the one page reads “a woman entered my life” this refers to Kumar's wife entering Sudarshan's life when he sees her at office party. Astrologer is given clue about Kumar's past life by his friend and his wife. His friend remembers Sudarshan's address when he sees fake fingerprint papers in astrologer's hand (a gameplan of Sudarshan). When Kumar reaches the said address, the watchman says nobody with that name lives there, but old man identifies the name (he is also planted) and suddenly he gets phone call about transfer to the same place which the old man refers to.  (Source: Quora)
